The Club

About us

Six owners started the club in the back room of the Old Bridge Inn at Ilkley in 1974, mainly so they had somewhere dry to argue about carburettors. The arguing has continued without a break ever since. There are around 120 of us now, spread across Wharfedale and out into the wider dales.

All marques and all eras are welcome. We have pre-war Austins, a healthy number of seventies saloons, two Land Rovers that have never been clean and a Citroën that nobody can properly explain. If you can argue it has character, it qualifies.

The committee

Elected at the AGM each November. They all answer their email eventually, some sooner than others.

Affiliation and membership

We are a member club of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, which does the campaigning and the paperwork on road use and taxation so that we do not have to.

Membership is £25 a year and includes the printed journal, four issues, posted out. Joining takes about a minute.
